The Bank’s Statistics Department currently has an opening for aStatistics Analyst I. The Statistics Analyst will be responsible for accurate and timely analysis and delivery of financial and structure data for a panel of less complex financial institutions using established procedures and working under direct supervision. The analyst ensures accuracy and integrity of reported data and information in accordance with established guidelines, policies, and procedures. The Statistics Analyst will also use business software and analytical systems, review data reports, charts, and graphs that are used in the analysis of report data for less complex analysis.
The analyst will also work with a team lead and/or more senior analysts to resolve quality assurance related problems, respond to questions on reporting requirements, and clearly communicate conclusions, analytical findings, and value-added information to peers, management, Board of Governors staff, and other stakeholders. This analyst will also need to consistently contribute with value-added analyses in a clear and well thought-out manner. The level of work is considered introductory and under direct supervision.
Effective application with guidance of basic quality assurance, extended analysis, and associated contextual information for monetary/economic policy and structure/regulatory reports data ensuring timely delivery of fit for use data to the Board of Governors, FRB New York and other data owners.
With team lead guidance, learn the process of reviewing and commenting on proposed changes to reports technical memoranda in a timely manner. Based on their review, analyst is expected to raise issues they have identified which could have general operating or quality assurance implications for Reserve Banks or financial institutions.
Learn to consistently leverage basic business software and analysis skills to support data analytics and related processes used in analysis, quality assurance, and testing. As they progress, analyst will have responsibility to incorporate automation tools into daily analysis including the interpretation of reports, data grids, graphs, and charts related to the basic data review processes.
Active learning and participation in local and system testing initiatives that reflect an understanding of the underlying data collection and workflows. In support of quality assurance, effectively translate report changes to targeted systems to execute assigned testing scenarios and project plans.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
BS/BA degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or other similar program, or equivalent work experience in a related field such as banking, accounting, audit, etc.
Proficient in the use of; SAS, SQL, R, or other related software a plus
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate clearly, correctly, and concisely; adjusts communication style to fit a variety of people and situations; tailors the tone and content of communications to fit the audience
Professional skills; analytical project skills; knowledge of bank operations including data analysis and general regulatory knowledge preferred
Basic accounting principles and financial industry knowledge; ability to read and understand financial statements; data analysis skills; familiarity with related ratio analysis preferred
Equivalent education and / or experience may be substituted
Work Hours & Conditions:
Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; flexibility / additional hours may be required based on business needs; some travel may be required, up to 5%
