Lockheed Martin Safety Engineer Staff in Fort Worth, Texas
Aviation safety engineer for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program; responsible for hazard analysis, hazard mitigation, and oversight thru hazard closeout and/or risk acceptance. This position is also responsible for performing safety assessment of issues reported by the F-35 fleet.
Duties may also include leading safety engineering program for individual projects or contracts including coordination and collaboration with internal safety team, product development teams, company leadership, and customer entities. Contribute to growth of the system safety competency within the team through development of best practices, on the job teaching, and collaboration.
Must be a US citizen. This position requires access to a controlled environment and a security clearance.
Basic Qualifications Bachelors degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Astronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Technology, or Systems Engineering from an accredited college. 9+ years experience in an engineering environment Experience with hardware/software system architecture, software development, mission systems (aircraft displays, aircraft communication/navigation, fire control & stores, sensor systems), and/or flight controls.
Desired skills Masters degree or above in Aeronautical Engineering, Astronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Technology, or Systems Engineering from an accredited college. Knowledge of F-35 design Experience with Mission Systems or Flight Controls Software Development and/or test experience. Pilot experience Knowledge of MIL-STD 882, DO-178B, DO-254, and/or F-35 System Safety Program Plan Good communication and interpersonal skills.
