Verizon Wireless Construction Engineer in Irving, Texas

What you’ll be doing...

The Construction Engineer will manage complex InBuilding, Venues, and Small Cell construction projects. Provide oversite of all construction projects and guide the team in the RF Engineering, project management, budgeting, permitting, and inventory aspects. Projects include new construction and upgrades to existing locations. Scope of work (SOW) includes managing RF Designs, shakedown testing, initiating and awarding bids, scheduling installation vendors, equipment engineering, budgeting, quality control, and project closeout.

Manage budgets (forecasts, true-ups, PO requests, receipts, receipt verifications, and complying with SOX). Evaluate prospective vendors and contractors by developing statements of work, soliciting bids, negotiating/awarding contracts, and managing the implementation process end-to-end.

Drive cross functional teams that include internal groups such as, Real Estate, Equipment Engineering, Construction, RF design, Regulatory and Operations; external groups such as DAS integrators, DAS equipment vendors, and external construction entities. Establish project schedules, drive deliverables, installations and commissioning with a focus in quality.

Collaborate closely with System Performance and RF Engineering, and Equipment Engineering teams to ensure projects are properly scoped, designed, planned and implemented. Develop best practices, continuous process improvement, and lead new technology deployments. Guide and oversee junior level engineers to ensure technical proficiency and consistency across the market.

Work with vendors on SOW contract support and milestone pricing. Provide detailed project scope and break out scope into measurable and billable milestones.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Three or more years of construction and InBuilding/Venue/Small Cell design processes, budget requirements, and project management.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.

  • Self-motivated and be able to take broad guidance and produce superior results.

  • Outstanding communication skills (oral and written) and be able to excel in demanding and challenging situations.

  • Experience interfacing with Real Estate, Operations, Systems Performance, Capacity Planning, Sales Operations, OEM Vendors and Suppliers.

  • Capability to follow technical directives, budget policies, and other guidance in carrying out duties.

  • Familiarity with the following is a plus: SiteTracker, IB Wave, Budget Tools, Fuze, Peoplesoft, EMIS, and other internal tools.
