The Photo Equipment Engineer has ownership of an assigned set of photolithography tools, and is recognized expert on the multiple lithography platforms. The candidate must be capable of working in a team environment to coordinate focused efforts with Process Engineering, Manufacturing and Equipment Suppliers. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills and a high level of personal energy.


  • Improve the reliability and availability of photolithography equipment

  • Provide training to equipment technicians

  • Analyze equipment malfunctions and failures and accordingly develop corrective actions

  • Prevent and reduce wafer scrap

  • Reduce defectivity

  • Define preventive maintenance activities and intervals

  • Improve process monitoring and sensor capabilities

  • Reduce cost of ownership

  • Identify and qualify alternate source parts

  • Support process and equipment development activities

  • Create hard down action plans

  • Provide technical assistance in installation and maintenance of capital equipment

  • Maintain documentations for equipment installation, maintenance and troubleshooting procedures

  • Participate and lead cross functional and Lean activity teams

  • Project management of tool installs and removals from fab


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

  • 2 to 10 plus years’ experience

  • Previous experience in Lean Manufacturing methods is highly desirable

  • Ability to troubleshoot to an advanced level, often dealing with new complex issues

  • Ability to deal with multiple issues and shifting priorities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to interact professionally with manufacturing and process engineering to deal with these issues and priorities

  • Solid knowledge of process control, sampling optimization, data analysis and interpretation

  • Good foundational problem-solving skills with creative solutions and out of the box thinking

  • Self-motivated; able to take initiative and effectively prioritize work for self

  • A strong desire to help create a positive, winning, world class working environment

  • Ability to program PLCs and design solutions to further automate existing equipment

  • Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 lbs as well as be able to wear a respirator and other personal protective equipment (PPE) for possible work handling hazardous materials
